Most celebs and their grandmothers sported safe black ensembles on the red carpet at this year’s Asia Artist Awards (AAA). Boooooooring. Thankfully, there were some who dared to dream a little bigger — did it work, though?
Standouts on the Asia Artist Awards Red Carpet
IU made the impossible happen. Celebrities wearing long, flowing all-white gowns on the red carpet usually bore me to tears because we’re not about to exchange vows here but somehow IU kinda made it work. She looked utterly ethereal — kudos to her for that. Among the guys, iKON’s Jinhwan was a clear standout for me. Loving the mossy green tuxedo jacket and cummerbund look. But my ultimate favourite had to be the one on Gugudan’s Mina. Her stylist must love her because whew, look at her upstaging almost everyone every other idol at the Asia Artist Award.
The Flops
Honestly, the most painful addition to this list is BTS’s V because his outfit could have really gone far — if not for that hideous YG hat. And that shirt, to a lesser extent. Fellow member RM was just as guilty of committing such a heinous crime but the point is: Taehyung could’ve really snapped. His fierce, hot red jacket was such a welcome change from so much of the boring black uniformity on the red carpet but that’s why the hat was even more of a slap in the face. I’m thankful for how pretty he is, but someone please steal that hat from him and set it on fire.
Suzy‘s was also a shame. She was absolutely done dirty. That loose fit around the bodice just kind of made the overall look fall flat, especially with how dull the colour was. Quite frankly, it looked a bit like a glorified sack. It’s lucky that her face, makeup, and hair still looked great.
What do y’all think? Did we miss anyone or were your faves also cursed with an all-black look?
