The weekend had ended. It was Monday morning.
After having a morning shower, I was wiping my head with a bath towel while having a toothbrush in my mouth.
I spent my time more leisurely than usual since the plan was to stay in my room until I’m a little late for school.
I remembered that I had turned off my phone before going to bed last night so I turned it on.
The screen immediately brightened as if many messages came to my phone.
[Kiyotaka-kun, do you have time in the morning? May I come to your room?]
It was from Airi, who had sent the message right after I had entered the shower.
Another incoming call had arrived from Kei, but I decided to reply to her later.
[Sorry, I was taking a shower so I didn’t notice your message. I don’t have any time now, could we meet in the school?]
I replied, and without even one second passing, she read the message. Was she waiting for my reply by chance?
[Alright, don’t worry. I’ll contact you again.]
She replied like it wasn’t anything urgent.
Therefore, I took the liberty to concentrate on getting ready for the time being.
Without having any time to spare, I finished preparing and called the elevator to go down to the lobby. But, due to being crowded with commuting students in the morning it didn’t come immediately. I thought I could avoid the wait after leaving at the very last possible moment for school, but I still didn’t make it.
In the meantime, I took my phone out and sent a message to Kei.
[What’s the matter? I’d like to meet you sometime in the evening and have a talk if possible.]
As soon as I sent the message, she read it.
[I just somehow called you for no reason so don’t worry. That aside, I’m okay with the meeting but can I ask you to do it earlier? I’m seeing a friend in the evening.]
If that’s the case, should I suggest to meet around 5 o’clock?
[How about 5 o’clock? Anytime is okay if it’s before 6.]
[Okay. Let’s meet at 5. What’s the occasion?]
[I’ll tell you when we meet.]
Just when I sent this, the elevator came from the upper floor. There was only Hirata inside.
“Yo, morning Ayanokouji-kun.”
“Hirata. How unusual for you to be late.”
Since Hirata was an honor student, he mostly went to school on time. It was a rare case for him to get out of the dorm at the very last moment.
“Actually, I was planning to leave a little earlier…” He said with a bitter smile.
We went down to the first floor together with Hirata, who was avoiding to reply. A lot of girls were waiting there.
They weren’t all from just one class, instead, they were several girls from Class A until Class D. I had to think for a brief second what was the occasion, but I figured it out soon after.
“Good morning Hirata-kun!”
“Yes, good morning.”
Although letting a welcoming smile, he was somewhat embarrassed.
“Here… for Valentine’s Day!”
6 girls said this at the same time, giving him chocolates simultaneously.
This scene had probably already happened many times. I guessed he had already gone back to his room carrying chocolate many times, thus he was getting late for school.
I said goodbye to Hirata and headed to the school hurriedly. It was easy to wait for him, but the pressure of being on the girls’ way bothered me.
So, it was Valentine’s day in the world.
“I’ve never received chocolates in my life…” I accidentally muttered to myself.
I wanted to receive chocolates first, before even considering to have a girlfriend.
I was a little surprised that there was such a wish inside of me.
