Eight K-pop Christmas songs to chill with this coming Christmas season

“
It’s the most beautiful time of the year
Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I’m reading OneHallyu Blog’s Christmas special articles!

“

Have you felt the winter breeze already? Have you heard the carolers serenade you with a beautiful song? Have you seen all of your neighbor’s extravagant Christmas decorations? Are you already on Christmas vacation? It’s truly the most beautiful time of the year! Having the weather so cold and freezing, it’s best to stay at home. How about drinking some hot coffee? Or watch old classic movies or read a book? But of course most importantly, listen to the Christmas themed holiday songs. Here are some K-Pop Christmas songsthat I, SLY, personally like and recommend to listen to this season .

JYP NATION – THIS CHRISTMAS

First in this list is a K-Pop classic, JYP Nation 2010’s “This Christmas“. This song features JYP artists back then, having a cute Christmas party inside their house. Gracing the song are the beautiful voices of Wonder Girls‘ Yeeun, Yubin, Sunye, & Sohee, miss A‘s Fei & Min, 2PM‘s Junho, Chansung, Taecyeon, & Jun.K, all members of 2AM, as well as the JYP soloists Ock Joohyun, JOO, San E, and surely not missing out is JYP himself. The song ends with Nichkhun‘s wish of falling in love this Christmas. One of my favorite songs! *sigh* The good times….

INFINITE – WHITE CONFESSIONS

Although the official English title for this song is “Lately” I prefer using “White Confessions“. It brings me back to the good times… With Hoya still an INFINITE member.. *sobs*  “White Confessions” is currently the best selling idol group Christmas song having almost 900k downloads according to Gaon. The music video showed the members buying gifts for one another, showcasing their INFINITE and brotherly bond. In 2015, for their reality show INFINITE Showtime, the members re-created the MV under the direction of PD Nam Woohyun.

Someone call Nam Woohyun PD to produce another masterpiece of a music video this instant!

JELLY CHRISTMAS – BECAUSE IT’S CHRISTMAS

The collective single by Jellyfish Entertainment artists, “Because It’s Christmas” remains the best selling K-Pop Christmas single in Korea. If Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending” is known as the “Cherry Blossom Zombie” for rising on the charts every year during spring season, this Jellyfish Entertainment song is also known for appearing on charts every year during winter season. At the time this was released, Jellyfish’s roster of artists were all male, hence Jellyfish Entertainment’s former infamous nickname, that I won’t mention here. It includes Sung Sikyung, Seo Inguk, Park Hyoshin, as well as N, Leo, Ken, Ravi, Hongbin, and Hyuk of VIXX. “Because It’s Christmas” currently has over one million downloads on Gaon. And as expected, it’s back on the biggest Korean chart, melOn!

LOVELYZ – FIRST SNOW

The video above is not an audio of the song, but a live performance by Lovelyz themselves. The studio version is already good, but the live performance made First Snow more angelic! The song originally came out as a special song during Lovelyz’s 2016 winter concert, and was later released as a  b-side in Lovelyz’ 2nd studio album. It has Lovelyz’s signature sound, with the 8 ladies’ beautiful voices.

EXO – MIRACLES OF DECEMBER

Let’s switch from the light and bubbly songs with an emotional and sentimental one. Debuting in 2012, EXO became one of the biggest K-Pop groups not only reigning domestically but also establishing themselves as a global artists. They released Miracles Of December on 2013 and it is currently one of the best selling K-Pop winter songs. The Korean version is recorded by the group’s main vocalists Chen, Baekhyun, and DO, while the Chinese version was sung by Luhan, Chen, and Baekhyun.

JELLY CHRISTMAS – FALLING

Another Christmas song from Jellyfish Entertainment, this is the 4th installment of their Jelly Box project, “Falling”. Much to our dismay, the song was only released on music sites, without a music video. “Falling” is much more diverse in artists compared to their other Christmas releases. It features the voices of VIXX, Gugudan, Seo Inguk, Jiyul, Park Jungah, Park Yoonha, and Kim Gyusun. However, it lacks the signature sound of Sung Sikyung and Park Hyoshin who have left the company.

APRIL – SNOWMAN

April promoted non-stop during their debut year, which included the release of Snowman. Like other April songs during that time, Snowman embodies the five lovely members of April in a cute concept. No worries though, April surely did not miss out on the vocal department with member Chaewon and Jinsol’s amazing vocal prowess.

GOT7 – CONFESSION SONG

Completing the list is one of the cutest songs of 2015, GOT7’s Confession Song. Part of their MAD Christmas Repackage, the 7 boys of GOT7 (you don’t say) delivered a wonderful gift for their fans. However, what’s more interesting than the song is the music video itself. The MV took place inside a school where the GOT7 members, disguised with cute reindeer heads. They suddenly started ‘kidnapping’ students from their classroom, library, and cafeteria only to be brought inside the gym, decorated beautifully in accordance to the season. Like the title of the song suggests, cute confessions of love happened in the gym through GOT7 cupids’ efforts. Those cupids really did a good job!

Make sure to be a good boy or girl, to make sure Santa gives you a gift! Merry Christmas to all of our readers!  Lots of love from SLY.
