espressOH! | EXO’s Kai Wears Socks Now, Fame Has Changed Him

"Socks are in!" -- Kim Jongin, traitor

Once the celebrated face of the unfairly criticised anti-socks movement, EXO’s Kai has now decided to join the dark, socks-clad side. Yes, folks, Kai wears socks with his shoes now. I can’t believe what fame and cold weather does to people.

EXO’s Kai’s antipathy to socks is so well-known, that he himself addressed it back in the day (see video below). He has gone on record to denounce socks, correctly stating that they’re stuffy. Because they are. They’re stuffy as hell, and irritatingly so, and he did not lie. Detractors found in YouTube comments and Twitter continually accuse him of rancid feet and yet he defied them time and time again.

But these days, he has been spotted wearing socks more often. Like today. He’s wearing socks today. It’s true that it’s pretty cold in South Korea now, what with the impending winter and he has indeed been spotted perhaps reluctantly wearing socks in the past, especially when it gets cold. But next thing you know, he’ll be wearing socks in the heat of summer.

And did Kai need to wear socks in a Don’t Mess Up My Tempo teaser? No. He did not. And yet there you have it, pictured in the header above: Kai wears socks now. You never really know with people these days. Even Vogue Korea made Kai wear socks recently, and get this, with sandals. The worst combination involving socks that anyone could possibly think of.

[Chen voice] I can’t believe!

They thought they could distract me with his shirtlessness — they really thought they were being slick. The only way I could ever forgive Vogue Korea for this crime is a photoshoot with the whole of EXO, preferably with group shots of Chen, Kai, and Sehun together.
