espressOH! | Future NCT Units That SM Should Debut ASAP

SM Entertainment’s latest pet project NCT hinges on the basic concept of an infinite number of members and consequently, an infinite number of NCT units. We already have NCT U, NCT Dream, NCT 127, and the grapevine has been talking about NCT China. Lest their creative team runs out of ideas, here are a few ideas for future NCT units that are sure to blow their minds! You’re welcome and hire me, SM.

NCT-M

Suddenly my time machine works and EXO-M is almost alive again — behold, NCT-M! Except it’s not NCT-Mandarin at all, it’s just Mark Lee. Oh, yes. He’s been in all existing NCT units at this point, what’s one more unit? In this revolutionary group, Mark will be the visual, the center, the main rapper, the main vocalist, the leader, the sun, the moon. And of course, to fill the massive void that EXO-M left, we might as well make Mark sing and rap in Mandarin (and Korean versions too, of course). Been there, done that for Mr. Mark Lee. It’ll be a walk in the park for him.

NCT 형

For those who understand just enough Korean, NCT 형 is exactly what you think it might be. It’s an NCT unit where the oldest member pairs up with the youngest member in a super exciting brotherly concept duo! Right now, that would probably be Taeil and Jisung (unless they debut another older or younger member etc, lord even knows how many boys they’ve been hoarding). They’ve already made a group based on their ages with NCT Dream, I’m almost semi-serious with this idea. This NCT unit is going to be a mega-hit, SM, I’m expecting an email soon — let’s talk business.

NCT π

Math is about to get real here. Because SM loves their rotational groups, here’s another incredible idea for one of those: NCT π. If you know your basic math, which you should (stay in school, kids), you’d know that π is a mathematical constant that can be rounded up to 3.14. NCT π, therefore, consists of three NCT members, plus a featured artist. It could be another SM idol, could be Dean or Zion.T, or whoever SM Entertainment’s able to wrangle. Imagine the kind of album art we could get out of this! This is my best idea yet. I shock myself.

Keen to discuss numbers and a future partnership, SM, let’s go.

REVIEW | “Zimzalabim” sure is special, but that may not be a good thing…

August 17, 2019

Rumor has it that SM tried to model Red Velvet's "Zimzalabim" after SNSD's 2013 smash hit, "I Got A Boy". The two tracks are similar in some things but differ in one major way: the "I Got A Boy"...
