espressOH! is nothing but OH!Pressors casually writing about random stuffs. Sometimes, we want to shit on stuffs. Sometimes we want to be laid-back too. Well whatever it is, have fun reading, or not~
Now this is the anime I am waiting for. Okay fine the waiting bit is a stretch. I never thought that this manga will even receive enough attention from manga fans alike, more so to piqué the interest of a famous studio to get an anime adaptation. Wit Studio guys, Wit Studio. They are known for producing cult anime Shingeki no Kyojin and most recently Mahoutsukai no Yome which turned out to be one of the best anime in 2017.
I’m a huge fan of the manga. The word huge right there, is an understatement. I really, truly adore the drawing style and paneling. There’s no need for wall of texts to explain this and that, just facial expressions and gorgeous rendering of the world around. Such approach is somewhat engaging for readers because their minds will start to play around more with assumptions and deductions thanks to the given freedom to imagine.
Putting the manga aside, I am here, ready to share my thoughts on the first airing episode of Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (or After the Rain for non-weeb). First few minutes in and you will find yourself enchanted by the beautiful, aesthetically pleasing animation. Everything looks extra gorgeous. From the background, to the particle effects. The characters especially Tachibana Akira (the main protagonist of the show) are well-drawn. The character designs, notably of female characters will bring you back to the classic age of anime in the 80s and 90s. Old is gold.
As for the scores, a fairly easy ten out of ten rating from me. The soundtracks managed to elevate the storytelling to a whole new level and at the same time leave an everlasting impression on us towards certain scenes in the episode. I, in particular find that every time Akira is getting solo shots, the track that follows will only make those moments more poignant and dazzling. The voice acting so far is all on point. I really love just how fitting Tachibana Akira and Kondo Masami’s voice acting are. Tachibana Akira is voiced by Watabe Sayumi while Kondo Masami is voiced by veteran Hirata Hiroaki. Watabe Sayumi is still new in the industry and hopefully her works in this show will be recognized and elevate her voice acting career to the stratosphere. I really like her voice.
..and we’re just in the first episode of the show. I’m pretty hyped now. It’s a very exciting time for me. 2018 is starting off well for us weeb. Rejoice!
P.S. Tachibana Akira is top 2D beauty!
P.S.#2. Oh for fuck sake I just remembered that I will be writing about Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku for next espressOH! What a way to kill my mood..
P.S.#3. Never mind. I’m okay again. This anime has one of the best ending song. You can never go wrong with Aimer really~
