Seventeen recently released a special music video for ‘Holiday‘ to commemorate Carats’ 1000 day anniversary, directed by rapper and resident nerd Jeon Wonwoo. Little do we know, though, of the true range of Mr. Jeon’s talents.
There is only one correct way to start an ideal holiday and that is to sleep — and Mr. Director recognises this perfectly right off the bat. As expected of the king of staying at home.
Of course, he can’t exactly make all thirteen of them stay at home so the video then progresses to the inside of a moving vehicle that goes in the opposite direction of a ONE WAY arrow. Because screw order and establishment — and isn’t that just Seventeen in a nutshell? These self-producing idols are involved in nearly everything they do, and they do it their own way. Wonwoo understands how to use found footage to capture their truth.

The ‘Holiday’ MV then cuts to various scenes of Seventeen members doing perfectly ordinary things like the crackheads that they are for the rest of the music video, right down to the ridiculous point dance in the choruses. It’s the perfect gift for fans who love them for their easy camaraderie.
But the real genius highlight of ‘Holiday’ is the part where Mingyu holds his hand out to the camera as the song transitions to Wonwoo himself rapping about paradise being anywhere we’re holding hands together. It’s clearly the mark of true inspiration. This is Mr. Jeon serving us tea of the highest quality: anywhere’s paradise when you’re holding hands with Kim Mingyu. Despite the fact that I’ve never had the privilege to do so, I know this as irrefutable truth. Anyways, everybody, say: “thank you, Jeon Wonwoo.”
espressOH! is nothing but OH!Pressors casually writing about random stuff.
