The girls are finally back. After waiting for more than a year for a group comeback, the fans are rejoicing that (G)I-DLE has made their return with the latest title track: “TOMBOY”.
The lyrics were written by Soyeon, who lyrically seems to be stuck in her Windy phase.
Soyeon’s rap is entirely in English but lacks any real substance that she’s known for.
There isn’t much shown of the dance. But what is shown, appears rather simple.
The music video is a little reminiscent of “Dumdi Dumdi”, with the girls dancing and running around. Though, it does have a darker theme. Some parts of the video may remind the viewer of the girl group EXID.
Visually, it’s not bad to look at. Some of the camera angles are a bit questionable, though.
Overall, it’s not a cohesive video. But not every video necessarily needs a storyline. One thing is certain: there is an abundance of attitude shown in the video.
The song doesn’t feel quite whole. It just feels like something’s missing.
It did have a few hidden references. Did you find them all?
