INTERVIEW | BEAUTYBOX Boosts Your Energy In Their Debut with ‘Beyond of BB’

In 2021, among a sea of K-pop girl group debuts, BEAUTYBOX — comprised of six members — released their first single album, “Beyond of BB“. To accompany this release, a music video was produced for their title track, “RAT A TAT“. Much like the video itself, moments capture the vibrant personalities of these members themselves. In this interview, we sought to catch up with the members and to learn about goals and wishes they may have for the future. Read below to find out more.

Congratulations on making your debut. Can you tell us how you feel?

Gahyun:

Thank you for congratulating us on our debut.
Online auditions have been held for a long time and due to COVID-19, I’ve been trained online for 4 months. We waited for more than three months for our foreign members to come to Korea and it didn’t feel real until we met them in person after two weeks of quarantine in Korea. It was so awkward to finally be able to meet them in person. I really wanted to tell you of how we met because it feels like a movie.

Sara:

I was so nervous on my way to our debut stage.

Anh:

After our first debut stage, [I felt] my heart was about to explode in the waiting room.
I felt so excited.

Rina:

I was so nervous during the rehearsal, but after the show started, I just enjoyed it.

Sori:

I was very nervous. Before we started performing, we held hands to cheer up. This made me feel very happy.

Jerin:

Before [we made] our debut, I thought it would be fun, but [standing on] the stage was really different. I could hear the sound of my heart. I was able to endure it because I was [there] with the members.

Let’s talk about your first single album, “Beyond of BB”. What messages did you want for listeners to know?

Our debut album, “Beyond of BB“, means that we will take a step forward for each album. The title song “RAT A TAT” is an uptempo pop dance song with an addictive and memorable hook that can be followed just by listening to it once. The lyrics contain both the excitement and nervousness of a young girl and our cute message for how we will appeal to you as a girl group, so “please don’t be unfamiliar with our Beauty Box.”
We hope to bring you songs with bright and positive messages.
Please cheer up after listening to them.

You participated in your first music video for RAT A TAT. The director, crew and staff members were there to support you. Any highlights or moments you’d like to share?

Sori:

We filmed in beautiful Jeju Island.
I was so happy to film my first music video in Jeju Island.
JK and Director Lim, who are full of passion, did a great job.

Jerin:

Our company CEO, director, team leader Ha, Seohyun unnie, Youngin unnie, you worked so hard to take care of us.

Sara:

Our hair and makeup artist, I remember you working hard to prepare since 3am.

Rina:

I remember the wonderful sunset at Hyeopjae Beach.

Anh:

Our directors and company staff felt reassured while we completed filming our scenes of dancing and singing.

Gahyun:

When I was tired of preparing and filming from dawn, fans gave me encouragement, saying, “Fighting, Beauty Box.” With that one word of support, we were able to shoot vigorously again.

You are active on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Spotify). How do you use them to connect with fans?

Gahyun:

During the pandemic, we tried to connect with our fans.
We have many foreign members and filmed to show you what we’ve prepared after [making] our debut.
We also try to visit our fans often through livestreaming.

Recently, you attended ‘Super K-Pop‘ on Arirang Radio. What was that like?

Anh:

I was so nervous. As I’m still learning Korean, I felt scared but it was fun.

Rina:

I sat down and sang the first song live. It wasn’t easy.

Jerin:

Korean is good, but I was happy to talk to you in English. In Thai, too. *^^*

This is a general question. Who or what are your sources of strength, motivation and inspiration?

Gahyun:

Of course, it’s our fans. They supported us, even before we made our debut.
Every word from them cheers me up.
There are many others who also supported us for our debut; our families, CEO, company staff, and friends, all of whom became the power of “Beauty Box”.

Do you have hobbies? Any things you do individually or even together as a group?

Rina:

I read cartoons or webtoons and go to pretty cafés to eat delicious cakes.

Sara:

I like running and eating delicious food.

Anh:

I like to take a shower and talking to my family on the phone.

Jerin:

I watch Korean dramas, listen to music, and dance.

Sori:

I like to eat delicious food or watch movies and chat.

Gahyun:

I like to take a walk.

In 2022, it will be the ‘Year of the Tiger’ (Chinese Zodiac). Any plans for next year?

Gahyun:

This year, after working hard on “RAT A TAT” album promotions, as far as I know, world promotions are scheduled in 2022.
We plan to show you a great performance with the strong energy of the tiger.

Rina:

I was born in the year of the tiger. So I’ll deliver good energy of our “Beauty Box” to you.

Share messages to our readers at OneHallyu.

Gahyun:

“OneHallyu”! Everyone, Beauty Box has debuted.

Anh:

“OneHallyu”! Everyone, please remember “Beauty Box”.

SARA:

“OneHallyu”! You’re going to listen to “RAT A TAT” a lot, right?

Jerin:

“OneHallyu”! I want to meet you guys.

Rina:

“OneHallyu”! Do you remember the killing part? “boom boom boo boo boom boom boom boo boo boom“.

Sori:

“OneHallyu”! Everyone, please be happy and love “Beauty Box” a lot. Thank you.

We wish to express gratitude to BEAUTYBOX and for responding to our questions. Is there anything you read here that you had enjoyed or found interesting? Comment below and let us know!
