Melon Music Awards 2018: A Parade in Black, Glimmer, and Other Hues on the Red Carpet!

The awards season has finally arrived! It’s that time of the year again where K-Pop’s brightest stars are recognized for their astounding hard work and music. Apart from the breathtaking stage performances, heartwarming speeches, and idol interactions, the red carpet is another anticipated part of the ceremony that stirs excitement among fans. Take a look at this year’s fashion at the Melon Music Awards!

The Stunners of the Evening

A jumpsuit can be difficult to pull off, especially when worn on a formal occasion. For Lee Hyun Yi, this wasn’t a problem. She effortlessly served glitz and glam by wearing a chic jumpsuit. Aside from her enthralling charm, her aura of confidence easily made her one of the standouts during the ceremony.

No one can deny the elegance shown by Mamamoo’s vocalist Hwasa and YG actress Kim Hee Jung in their respective outfits. Both women exhibited perennial class and dazzling elan. Girl group (G)I-dle shone brightly on the red carpet as well in their stylish outfits with eye-catching tinges of shimmer.

In the men’s category, Jinhwan of iKON resembled an angelic prince in his white long sleeve shirt. RM together with Jin of BTS undoubtedly made everyone’s hearts skip a beat with their clean and suaver clothes in vivid hues.

Upon seeing Mamamoo, it was hard not to notice Wheein‘s outfit. The entire look could have been more appealing without the white shirt and the beret. This was also the case for iKON’s Yunhyeong. The texture of his top needed more flair, and the hat would have been better off back in the closet.

For BTOB, the group’s overall style didn’t have a solid sense of fashion harmony. Looking at each article of clothing, a little bit of mixing and matching could have made everything more cohesive. “Less is more” is a common saying, but unfortunately, SinB‘s outfit lacked a little too much. It was bland and looked disjointed from the rest of the group.

It’s safe to say that black, white, and gray were the dominant colors of the evening–BTS chose to take a different fashion route. However, V‘s clothes appeared flat in some parts. His shirt and pants did not seem to fit well on his body, which made them dull. Luckily, his beautiful face and red hair managed to save the look.
