OH! Chart 180724 | The Ladies of TWICE “Dance The Night Away” On The Charts

in Korean Entertainment, OH! Chart

JYP Entertainment’s girl group make an altogether unsurprising return to the top of the OH! Chart. TWICE’s “Dance The Night Away” effortlessly sashays competition out of the way.

How the OH! Chart System Works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Digital Score (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

TWICE continues its habit of capturing South Korea’s heart by conquering both digital and physical charts this week. “Dance The Night Away” aggregated an outstanding score of 65,689,385 in the digitals category. This leaves a formidable margin between them and APink‘s “I’m So Sick” which recorded 43,127,881 points. Closely following in third place is indie duo MeloMance‘s “Fairy Tale” with 41,657,569 points. APink and MeloMance‘s performances remain fantastic though, especially since this isn’t their songs’ first week on the charts.

In the physicals category, TWICE once again impresses by selling 95,287 copies of their album “Summer Nights” on Hanteo Chart. Born again boy group NU’EST W comes in second by selling 36,869 copies of “Who, You“. In third place, the boys from KBS reality show The Unit, UNB, sold 13,470 copies of “Black Heart“.

Finally, among the OH users who participated in the poll, 41 voted for TWICE, securing their return to the top of OH! Chart. Previous triple crown winner Blackpink no longer qualifies for OH! Chart with “DDU-DU DDU-DU“, but album track “Forever Young” still has the support of 27 users, forcing Bolbbalgan4 out of third place. However, it’s not enough to beat APink‘s “I’m So Sick“, which isn’t far behind with 25 votes, ultimately landing them in second place overall.

No.1 SPOTLIGHT: TWICE

Previous ranking: Not Applicable

The ladies of TWICE are ever so radiant in their summer comeback, “Dance The Night Away“. It’s no surprise that they’re back at it again, capturing the hearts of both OneHallyu users and South Korea’s general public. They haven’t exactly made much of a substantial change to their sound, besides a very slight change of tempo. But if it’s working, don’t fix what ain’t broke, right?

Will TWICE be able to defend their position next week, considering the controversy behind Shaun’s recent supremacy on digital charts? Keep your eyes peeled and let us know your predictions in the comments below, aspiring soothsayers.
