OH! Chart 190305 | Hwasa Proves Her Power as a Solo Artist

taenguri by taenguri
March 5, 2019
in Korean Entertainment, OH! Chart
4

A girl group member makes a successful solo debut, a monster rookie bursts onto the scene, and an established group posts huge opening week sales on this week’s OH! Chart.

How the OH! Chart System Works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Digital Score (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). For each weekly cycle of the chart, OH users can vote for more than one nominee. However, they cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Chart Masters will then gather the data and crunch the numbers. Once an artist achieves three wins with one song (a triple crown!), this song will be excluded from future charts.

Results:

Digital sales this week are led by none other than Hwasa, the MAMAMOO member who recently made her solo debut. In its second week of release, Twit earns a massive 58,960,413 points. Seemingly trailing behind but still with a huge number, breakthrough artist Woody earns 50,148,350 points with Fire Up, placing him in OH! Chart’s Digital top 3 for the 4th consecutive week. Third place goes to JYP Entertainment’s brand new girl group, ITZY. Their debut song DALLA DALLA earns 47,002,600 points this week, becoming a rare case of an idol group debut being an instant hit.

After monster rookies come monster idols. Boy group Monsta X posts huge opening week sales with their latest release, WE ARE HERE, selling a whopping 106,537 copies in just 6 days. Meanwhile, Yoon Jisung‘s debut album Aside – his first work since the conclusion of Wanna One‘s contract – sells 27,569 copies. Continuing the trend, our third highest seller is another male idol release in its first week. Rising boy group SF9‘s new album Narcissus sells 15,396 copies.

Taemin leads in the voting category with 24 votes for last week’s winning song, Want. Monster rookie ITZY is back at it again, too, showing the strength of their fanbase by earning 21 votes for DALLA DALLA. Our top digital seller Hwasa records this week’s third highest voting score, with 17 votes for Twit.

Week 9 is all about the debuts! Twit, the solo debut of seasoned idol Hwasa, takes the OH! Chart trophy this week after beginning its chart run at 3rd place last week. DALLA DALLA, the debut song of JYP’s rookie girl group ITZY, claims 2nd place for the second consecutive week – which is super impressive for a first release! Alligator, the title track of Monsta X‘s latest album, debuts at 3rd place on the OH! Chart this week after its release on the 18th.

No.1 Spotlight: Hwasa

Previous ranking: 3rd place

Top girl group MAMAMOO‘s youngest member Hwasa has made her debut as a solo artist, and she’s already proving to have just as much chart power as her group does. The sassy and fierce Twit has climbed to #1 on the OH! Chart in its second week, in addition to topping this week’s Gaon digital chart. MAMAMOO last topped the OH! Chart with Starry Night, which ranked #1 in 2018 weeks 5 and 6. What do you think of the song? Want something else to win next week? Let us know in the comments down below!

Why 0 for Alligator on Gaon chart? they have some points there, they’re at #133 with 4,594,418.

Points on OH! Chart are allocated only to the most exceptional performers of that category for the week. Only the top 10 for Gaon and top 5 for Hanteo is recorded. Since Monsta X was not within the top 10, they did not receive points for Gaon.

I see. I thought that was the criteria just for nomination. Thanks.
Too bad it means MX have no chance of winning any time soon.
