BLACKPINK has come a long way since debuting as the easy target of misplaced ire. Not that they were ever at the bottom, especially when it came to sales. No, even with the noise, the girls have always been a commercial success. And now, not only are their songs instant digital music chart hits, but they’ve also proven that they can blitz through records for both digital and physical albums.
Let’s see how they measure up with ‘Lovesick Girls’.

Digital Chart
BTS is still going strong at the top of digital charts since their immense showing last month, with ‘Dynamite’ scoring a whopping 178,394,964 points this time. Ranked second on Gaon Digital Chart is yet another Yoo Jae Suk and Hyori hit, this time through Refund Sisters and their song ‘Don’t Touch Me’ (149,782,379 points). Meanwhile, BLACKPINK debuts at #3 with 147,244,547 points for ‘Lovesick Girls’, tailing closely behind Refund Sisters.
Physical Chart
Million-album sellers take the physical chart by storm this month. NCT starts things off at #1 as NCT 2020 Resonance Pt. 2 records 1,272,389 copies sold, led by title track ‘Make A Wish (Birthday Song) ‘while by NCT U. And at #2 is BLACKPINK who records a whopping 1,092,550 copies of The Album with their title track ‘Lovesick Girls’, absolutely holding their own in an arena traditionally dominated by boy groups. Last but definitely not least, SEVENTEEN marks a career high with yet another million-selling album, moving 1,061,887 copies of Semicolon, heralded in by title track ‘HOME;RUN’.
Voting
Only BTS, BLACKPINK, and Refund Sisters received kudos this month in votes, with 2 votes apiece for all the BTS songs, 2 votes for Refund Sisters, and 1 for BLACKPINK.
Final Ranking
Given how massively successful BLACKPINK‘s ‘Lovesick Girls’ has been in two major categories — digital and physical — debuting at #1 (14.55 points) comes as no surprise at all. Deserved, really, none can dispute their #1 this month with their sheer, raw numbers. The rest of the strong top 3 is rounded up by BTS and ‘Dynamite’ with a #2 (13.85 points) and Refund Sisters‘ ‘Don’t Touch Me’ at #3 (12.43 points). Congratulations to all top 14 artists this month and to SEVENTEEN for having Mingyu.
OH! Chart: A Quick Recap of What All of That Means
OH! Chart is a monthly music charting system that is unique to the OneHallyu community and OH! Press readers. It tracks top 10 songs on Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and the top five best-selling albums on Gaon Monthly Album Chart. Thus, only data from exceptional performers will be collected for both categories. We will then aggregate the data and rank the songs based on three voting categories: Streaming and Downloads (55% of votes), Physical Sales (20%) and OH! Press Reader Votes (25%). After each full month, OH! Chart will be updated to reflect the best-selling and most-loved songs.
How the Results are Calculated
The top 10 songs from Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and title songs of the top five albums from Gaon Monthly Album Chart are selected. Only data for exceptional performers from these two charts will be counted towards their scores. Those who perform exceptionally across the board will have the advantage of scoring in all of them. For the final scores, each song’s individual data for one category is divided by the sum of that category, then multiplied by our chosen percentage (i.e. 0.20 for physical sales). The grand totals from all three categories are added together and multiplied by 100, forming the final score.
OH! CHART #1: BLACKPINK – Lovesick Girls
Love them or hate them, controversy never seems to get BLACKPINK down, and you have to respect them for that. Their first album evidently exceeded expectations, moving massive numbers that no other girl group in K-pop history has ever seen. The month of October’s is BLACKPINK‘s.
