BTS has managed to make a splash in both South Korea and the mainstream US after releasing Dynamite. Not only have they achieved smashing success on all Korean charts, but they managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, even nabbing the #1 spot for a few weeks. It’s hard to compare them to anyone else really. At the moment, they are the undisputed #1 group in the world. It is no surprise they easily took over OH! Chart’s September ranking.
However, several other artists managed to perform well in September. Let’s see the rest of the top 15…

Digital Chart
BTS swept over Korea’s charts with “Dynamite”, and so they naturally topped the digital chart with 195,985,176 gaon index points. B1A4’s Sandeul represented the ballad brooders as “Slightly Tipsy” scored 117,565,143 total index points. Jessi Nunu Nana’ed her way to the top three and got 102,117,876 index points.
Physical Chart
This time, a soloist I have personally never heard of, Kim Ho Joon, came and embarrassed the boy group fans. He managed to score a whopping 441,201 album units and came in first place. Second place was Stray Kids, as one would logically expect, who pulled in 331,143 units. Rounding up the top 3 was The Boyz who got 238,371 album units recorded.
Voting
Surprisingly, it was not BTS’s massive fandom that secured them first place. No. First place went to Stray Kids after 10 fervent fans clicked their way to victory. Still BTS’ wasn’t too far off as they were only lacking 4 more fans. They came in second place with 6 votes. Third place was a tie between three people, and it is so appropriate that they all got 3 total votes. The Boyz, JYP and Sunmi, and Jessi, can hold their heads high!
Final Ranking
Despite having no physical points this time around, BTS‘ massive lead in digital points and a considerable amount of votes nabbed them first place. They topped the September chart with an easy-breezy 14.77 total points. To absolutely no one’s surprise, Stray Kids came in second place with 11.69 total points. Third place was truly the most pleasant surprise of them all, as Jessi‘s massive tik-tok hit “Nunu Nana” clinched her a spot in the top 3. She scored 7.60 points.
OH! Chart: A Quick Recap of What All of That Means
OH! Chart is a monthly music charting system that is unique to the OneHallyu community and OH! Press readers. It tracks top 10 songs on Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and the top five best-selling albums on Gaon Monthly Album Chart. Thus, only data from exceptional performers will be collected for both categories. We will then aggregate the data and rank the songs based on three voting categories: Streaming and Downloads (55% of votes), Physical Sales (20%) and OH! Press Reader Votes (25%). After each full month, OH! Chart will be updated to reflect the best-selling and most-loved songs.
How the Results are Calculated
The top 10 songs from Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and title songs of the top five albums from Gaon Monthly Album Chart are selected. Only data for exceptional performers from these two charts will be counted towards their scores. Those who perform exceptionally across the board will have the advantage of scoring in all of them. For the final scores, each song’s individual data for one category is divided by the sum of that category, then multiplied by our chosen percentage (i.e. 0.20 for physical sales). The grand totals from all three categories are added together and multiplied by 100, forming the final score.
OH! CHART #!: BTS – Dynamite
The past four years have brought forth one of the wildest leaps to international stardom that K-Pop has ever seen. BTS went from being a group that wasn’t even shown on M!Countdown to appearing on some of America’s biggest late-night shows. Dynamite seems to cement their status as the biggest and most impactful pop group worldwide. This easy-listening, earwormy song was written to be a smash and it was! However, you may feel about the autotune, you cannot deny that BTS knows how to pull off a bright pop track. As BTS continues to rule over Korean charts with this massive hit, are they guaranteed to top October as well? Find out next on OH! Chart…
