Listen, I’ll give it to you straight, Chief. In the entire history of OH! Chart, never have we received votes to the extent that we’ve seen this month. Sure, Onces were always one of the most supportive fanbases, sticking up for TWICE each and every time they were nominated. But Kang Daniel fans have caught us entirely by surprise.
Find out exactly how they made it happen.

Digital Chart
At #1 we have male soloist Gaho with an Itaewon Class OST entitled ‘Start‘, which earned 135,720,140 points on Gaon’s digital chart. Of course there’s going to be at least one K-drama OST. And then we have ZICO and IU who probably shook hands and agreed to continue to stay on the charts for months just to piss everyone else off. The former ranked at #2 with ‘Any Song‘ scoring 130,487,896 points while the latter ranked at #3 with ‘I Give You My Heart‘ (101,307,301 points).
Physical Chart
NCT 127 topped Gaon’s physical chart this month with 748,000 copies of ‘NEO ZONE’ sold, led by title track ‘Kick It‘. In second place is our leading man Kang Daniel, who moved 254,569 copies of ‘CYAN’, and in third place is EXO’s leader SUHO, selling 213,280 copies of ‘Self-Portrait’. It’s almost an all-boys affair in this category. Only ITZY is in the top 5 this time. How long has it been since ladies topped monthly physical charts? We, as a human race, continue to fail girl groups and female soloists.
Votes
Kang Daniel fans put everyone else to shame this month. In fact, they’ve put every other fanbase that has ever been called upon to vote in the entire history of OH! Chart to shame. Thanks to DANITYs, he earned a whopping 460 votes. This figure is a new all-time OH! Chart record. The next best was ITZY with 42 votes, followed by NCT 127 with 34 votes. For a brief moment, ITZY was actually leading with votes until DANITYs took matters into their own hands and said not today.
Final Ranking
OH! Chart’s methodology has always been about exceptional figures — in any category. Kang Daniel soars to the top this month, bolstered by respectable album sales and an unprecedented number of votes. With their impressive physical album sales, NCT 127 had a fair chance of securing the #1 spot but has ultimately ranked at #2. Meanwhile, ZICO dropped to one place to #3 this month; he has been in the top three for multiple consecutive months already, so that’s nothing to scoff at.
Huh? What Just Happened?
OH! Chart is a monthly music charting system that is unique to the OneHallyu community and OH! Press readers. It tracks top 10 songs on Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and the top five best-selling albums on Gaon Monthly Album Chart. Thus, only data from exceptional performers will be collected for both categories. We will then aggregate the data and rank the songs based on three voting categories: Streaming and Downloads (55% of votes), Physical Sales (20%) and OH! Press Reader Votes (25%). After each full month, OH! Chart will be updated to reflect the best-selling and most-loved songs.
How the Results are Calculated
The top 10 songs from Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and title songs of the top five albums from Gaon Monthly Album Chart are selected. Only data for exceptional performers from these two charts will be counted towards their scores. Those who perform exceptionally across the board will have the advantage of scoring in all of them. For the final scores, each song’s individual data for one category is divided by the sum of that category, then multiplied by our chosen percentage (i.e. 0.20 for physical sales). The grand totals from all three categories are added together and multiplied by 100, forming the final score.
OH! Chart #1: This One’s For Kang Daniel Fans
Kang Daniel fans are really something else. Their dedication is so beyond next level that there should no longer be any question at all around his #1 ranking on the second season of Produce 101. It’s been three years since the show ended and nearly a year since the start of MNet’s vote-rigging controversy, yet DANITYs’ fervour still show little to no signs of waning. Some had briefly doubted his win, but with the way he continues to rake in numbers after Wanna One’s disbandment? Impossible.
I do not know if you are conscious or not but your choice of words can create fanwars. I knew it for I teach communication and arts and the choice of words for journalists is very fatal to their profession. We appreciate how you lifted our idol #KangDaniel to top 1 but we are not also happy how you treat other idols by lifting him. We appeal to you, please do not drag our boy to these. He suffered too much from hat*s cut his promo and spent almost the entire year of 2019 in hiatus including the lawsuit that he won. So please be considerate of the words you are using. Danity will be happy if you praise Daepyonim without stepping down other idols and fandoms for they too have work hard for their achievements like ours but at the end of the day there will be a wiinner and we are happy whoever wins. What matters most to Danity is Daniel’s happiness that he is back doing the things he loved most. Those awards and rankings are just a bonus. Please consider our appeal.
Thank you so much

@rona janeo Oh! Press writers have never presented ourselves as professional journalists. That being said, technically, I did not seriously bring any artist down to specifically lift anyone up in this. That has never really been my style. It was only the fanbases that I’ve compared. And that means I’ve also put down the fandoms that I myself am in, including EXO-L and Miyane. EXO-Ls were too busy fighting each other and other fandoms on twitter. And Miyane, well, we were never very good at voting unless we needed to protect Sunmi in some way.
If it helps, I am not a fan of Daniel so anyone reading this can simply scroll down and see for themselves. They would be fools to come for the artists when they are free to come for me, and that includes my own fandom.
