Digital Chart
This month’s digitals have been dominated by the long-running rap program Show My The Money. Season 9’s “VVS” by Mirani, Munchman, Khundi Panda, and MUSHVENOM took the top spot this December, with a huge 127,441,893 digital points. This is far beyond second place, which went to none other than “Dynamite” by BTS, which is now in its fourth month on the OH! Chart. It managed a solid 96,760,904 points in December. Third place went to solo artist KyoungSeo and her song “Shiny Star” raking in 87,685,415 points.
Physical Chart
NCT have dominated the physical chart this month, selling a massive 850,734 copies of their latest effort Resonance Pt. 2. IZ*ONE‘s fourth mini album One-reeler / Act IV sold 450,549 copies in December, bringing it into second place. Both third and fourth place go to opera singer Kim Hojoong, with almost identical numbers for the albums The Classic Album I – My Favorite Arias and The Classic Album II – My Favorite Songs. However, it’s the former that slipped its way into our top 3 this month, with 248,480 copies sold.
Voting
Voting took a big step back this month, with no songs registering more than 1 vote each, Sad I know, but what can you do?
Final Ranking
NCT have brought the “90s Love” to OH! Chart this month, with their song titled…well…”90s Love”. It tops the December chart thanks to its huge physical numbers. Second place, once again, goes to “Dynamite” by BTS, for what is now the fourth month in a row! It’s rare that a song charts in consecutive months, and maintaining the same high rank across all is a huge feat! November’s #1 song “Life Goes On”, also by BTS, is #3 this month.
Congratulations to all songs in the top 15!
Not Sure About What You Just Read? A Quick Recap of OH! CHART
OH! Chart is a monthly music charting system that is unique to the OneHallyu community and OH! Press readers. It tracks top 10 songs on Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and the top five best-selling albums on Gaon Monthly Album Chart. Thus, only data from exceptional performers will be collected for both categories. We will then aggregate the data and rank the songs based on three voting categories: Streaming and Downloads (55% of votes), Physical Sales (20%) and OH! Press Reader Votes (25%). After each full month, OH! Chart will be updated to reflect the best-selling and most-loved songs.
How the Results Are Calculated
The top 10 songs from Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and title songs of the top five albums from Gaon Monthly Album Chart are selected. Only data for exceptional performers from these two charts will be counted towards their scores. Those who perform exceptionally across the board will have the advantage of scoring in all of them. For the final scores, each song’s individual data for one category is divided by the sum of that category, then multiplied by our chosen percentage (i.e. 0.20 for physical sales). The grand totals from all three categories are added together and multiplied by 100, forming the final score.
OH! CHART #1: NCT U – 90’s Love
NCT had a great 2020. They gave us the boy group Song of the Year with “Kick It” and came back strong with the fun and experimental “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)”. “90’s Love” is cute and fun, which is a good change from the usual boy group sound that’s been going around lately. Most important of all, NCT has seen tremendous growth in their physical sales which, in the month of December, propelled them to first place. Here’s to hoping that 2021 brings even more success to K-pop’s main experimental boy group. Congratulations to NCT and NCTzens!
