OH! Chart Results: Boy group blitzes field

A leading boy group could not be stopped from recording a landslide victory. However, an OH!Chart record of 10 soloists starred in this week’s battle for podium spots.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

SM Entertainment’s powerhouse group EXO notched back-to-back OH!Chart wins for “Power” with 25.49 points. Former winner Sunmi jumped one spot to come second for her smash hit, “Gashina” on 11.47 points. Rapper Woo Won-Jae fell to third place after claiming second on debut last week for his track “We Are” featuring Gray which notched 10.62 points.

Despite a significant drop in sales, EXO still dominated the physical category with 85,100 copies. Cult girl-group GFRIEND came second on 15,824 copies, just ahead of 2PM’s Junho who sold 13,896 copies on his OH!Chart debut.

Woo Won-Jae went back-to-back in winning the downloads with 112,875 hits – the only nominee to reach triple figures. Sunmi showed good form in recording 89,047 hits. Veteran soloist Yoon Jong Shin’s “Like It” came third on 85,663 hits. Meanwhile, in the streaming category, Woo Won-Jae slotted into first place on 7,887,794 hits; just a fingernail ahead of Yoon Jong Shin on 7,631,482 hits. Sunmi rounded out the top three with 6,775,215 hits.

In the OH! category, EXO won the battle of SM Entertainment’s leading idol groups by gaining 46 votes, only two votes ahead of their juniors, Red Velvet (44 votes). Popular soloist Sunmi continued to attract the hearts of OH! users by placing third on 32 votes.

Top 13:

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: EXO

Previous ranking: First

EXO extended their successful comeback with their repackaged release, “Power”. The track serves as a breath of fresh air from the boys, who are known for pumping out performance-based concepts. While their numbers in each category have dropped this week, it is likely that their fandom will continue to help them achieve solid numbers across the board. If history repeats itself, “Power” may be in the running for a triple crown next week.

Can EXO claim their second triple crown? Will a hip-hop artist push through and win their first OH! Chart? Or will idol groups return to the competition? Let us know your thoughts below!
