OH! Chart Results: Debutants dig deep

Soloists and rappers stole the show while the representation of idol groups dropped off. With six debutants this week, there was plenty to play for in this week’s OH! Chart.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Popular soloist Sunmi succeeds in claiming her first OH! Chart crown for “Gashina” after coming second on début last week. Sunmi recorded 17.63 points ahead of debutants, VIXX LR who scored 12.92 points for their comeback track, “Whisper”. Starship Entertainment rookie and former Produce 101 Season 2 contestant Jung Sewoon rounded out the podium on début with “Just U”, which notched 11.05 points.

Talented sub-unit VIXX LR showed their strong fan base by winning the physicals category on 23,475 copies. Freshly debuted soloist Jung Sewoon sold an impressive 20,704 copies. NCT Dream ensured the boys took the top three spots after they came third with 9381 copies.

Sunmi, the former Wonder Girl, could not be stopped from scoring back-to-back wins in the downloads category with a solid 151,199 hits. Veteran soloist Yoon Jong Shin notched another second placing for “Like It” on 114,399 hits. Meanwhile, Haeng Ju ft. Zico, Swings’ collaboration track, “Red Sun” came third on 102,980 hits. Yoon Jong Shin out-muscled Sunmi to take out the streaming category by notching 8,545,356 hits compared to 7,201,441 hits for his junior. Heize wrapped up the top three with 4,992,010 hits.

This week’s winner Sunmi stormed to the finish line by claiming the most OH votes. She recorded 59 votes – 20 more than the second-placed Red Velvet, who finished with 39 votes. VIXX LR polled a solid 17 votes.

Top 12:

  1. Sunmi – Gashina: (Gaon Downloads: 151,199, Gaon Streaming: 7,201,441, Hanteo: 0, OH: 59 = Total score: 17.63 points)

  11. Hwang Chi Yeul – A Daily Song
  12. Nucksal, Hanhae, Rhino & Jo Woochan ft. Dynamic Duo – N/1
  13. Taeyang – Darling

DISCLAIMER: Due to technical difficulties, OH votes for Heize ft Shin Young Jae’s “You, Clouds, Rain” was unfortunately left out.  If Heize is nominated again next week, her scores from last week will be carried to this week’s chart. Apologies for the inconvenience.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: Sunmi

Previous ranking: Second

“Gashina” marks Sunmi’s first solo track in three years since “Full Moon”. With Wonder Girls activities behind her and a new agency, she has returned with this unique, high-tempo number. The variation in beats and vocals make the song addictive to the ears. Plus, the choreography is authentic and artistic with a few statement moves that is pretty memorable. Sunmi has already won on music shows during her comeback and it is likely she’ll continue this early success.

Can the newbies stop Sunmi from going back-to-back? Will we see a fresh-faced winner? Or will a regular move back up the chart? Let us know your thoughts below!
