OH! Chart Results: Heat turns up on regulars

A fresh nominee leapfrogged a handful of former winners in this week’s OH! Chart. Small margins ensured that consistent performers crumble away from their comfort zones. It was yet another tight contest for bragging rights.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Exhilarating boy group Up10tion climbed their way up the OH! Chart to win on their first showing by recording 15.79 points for “Runner”. Rapper Heize’s soft ballad featuring Shin Young Jae, “You, Clouds and Rain” came second with 12.11 points, just ahead of last week’s winner Mamamoo who notched 10.69 points.

Up10tion’s fanbase powered through in the physicals category, as they sold a whopping 51,454 copies; almost five times more than its next competitor. Former winner NCT 127 was the only other five-digit nominee with 11,427 copies. Cult girl group A-Pink rounded out the top three with 8258 copies.

Heize claimed back-to-back wins in the downloads by recording 197,850 hits. The multi-talented rapper also clinched second place for “Don’t You Know” with 124,030 hits. Mamamoo performed steadily in third on 91,886 hits. For the streaming category, Heize again stormed to first and second place again for “You, Clouds and Rain” (8,790,098 hits) and “Don’t You Know” (7,173,473). Mamamoo ensured the mirror ranking for these two categories by coming third with 6,153,689 hits.

YG’s resident girl group BLACKPINK snagged two wins in a row in the OH category by gathering 40 votes. Mamamoo was just three votes behind on 37 votes, with NCT127 (34 votes) ghosting behind in third spot.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: Up10tion

Previous ranking: Not applicable

Second-year boy group Up10tion has returned with a catchy, dance track in “Runner”. This is the group’s bread and butter – an addictive beat that is sway-worthy coupled with high notes and impactful rap. The MV is very dance-centric, where the choreography is clinical and impressive. While the song may be your typical boy group tune, it has an epic feel that sticks and sells.

Can Up10tion continue to up the ante? Will new debutants make another surprise win? Or will regulars recapture their strong form? Let us know your thoughts below!
