OH! Chart Results: Invincible idols

An established girl group cruised to victory in this week’s OH!Chart. With the presence of seven idol groups, the field was dominated by the top groups of the current K-Pop landscape.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

SM Entertainment’s energetic girl group Red Velvet claimed their first crown for “Red Flavour”, finishing on 25.98 points. Last week’s winners Up10tion dropped to second place on 11.49 points. Popular rapper ZICO’s “Artist” wrapped up the podium places with 8.33 points.

For the physicals category, Up10tion won for the second week in a row by selling 36,176 copies. The boys were followed closely by Red Velvet with 30,913 copies. Former winners NCT 127 came third after selling a steady 8,939 copies.

Red Velvet comfortably secured the downloads category by notching 291,643 hits. ZICO scored just over half of Red Velvet’s tally on 149,603 hits. Rapper Heize came third  on 133,296 hits for her duet, “You, Clouds, Rain” featuring Shin Yong Jae. Heize showed her prominence on the digital scene by winning the streaming category on a whopping 8,637,090 hits. Red Velvet came second on 7,105,043 hits followed by Heize again for “Don’t Know You” that recorded 6,356,964 hits.

Red Velvet once again rose to the occasion to win another category. This time, they easily claimed the hearts of OH users by notching 75 votes. BLACKPINK continued their strong OH form on 42 votes, just ahead of NCT127 on 40 votes.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: Red Velvet

Previous ranking: Not applicable

Red Velvet’s tasty and catchy new title track “Red Flavour” is full of fun and colour. It is perfect to jam to during the summer season. The ladies’ concepts followed a fruit and they totally went beyond expectations. This track is addictive and very marketable, so it’s likely to become a prominent feature in the top 10 on digital charts.

Will Red Velvet record back-to-back wins? Or will their senior labelmate EXO spoil the party? Can soloists return and push the idols off the charts? Let us know your thoughts below!
