OH! Chart Results – Newbie claims crown

OH! Chart’s history of debutants winning trophies continues this week. With eight new nominees, the battle for podium spots was hotly contested.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Fresh blood project group Wanna One stormed to a landslide victory on their chart debut for “Energetic”. The boys recorded a whopping 31.17 points – more than triple than 10-year girl group and K-pop legends, SNSD’s “Holiday” on 10.87 points. Rappers Nucksal, Hanhae, Rhino & Jo Woochan ft. Dynamic Duo’s “N/1” also crashed the podium on debut with 8.42 points.

Wanna One’s stellar win was consolidated after they sold a whopping 396,611 copies. SNSD claimed second place again with a respectable 89,244 copies. Popular boy group WINNER rounded out the top three with 35,421 copies.

For the downloads category, Wanna One took out first and second place for “Energetic” (250,886 hits) and “Burn It Up” (155,172 hits). Nucksal, Hanhae, Rhino & Jo Woochan ft. Dynamic Duo’s “N/1” on 142,386 hits. Nucksal et al. again romped to win the streaming category on 6,884,191 hits. Hip hop gangsters, Hangzoo, Young B, Hash Swan, Killagramz ft. Zico, Dean’s collaboration track, “Yozm Gang” came second on 5,650,889 hits while Heize ft. Shin Yong Jae’s “You, Clouds, Rain” recorded an impressive 5,629,683 hits in third place.

SNSD’s massive fanbase on OH proved too strong for their hoobaes, as they posted 178 votes. Wanna One tallied a total of 73 votes in second place. Popular SM group, Red Velvet came third with 49 votes.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: Wanna One

Previous ranking: Not applicable

Wanna One showcases their youthful and chic aura to the fullest in “Energetic”. This track features a medium-tempo pace along with impactful vocals. The rap is highlighted by sultry, low-pitched tones by the boys. Overall, it is a solid debut song which screams the generic boy group style. However, after a few more listens, it does get addictive. Wanna One is likely to continue to use the hype from Produce 101 to their advantage and feature prominently in future OH! Charts.

Can Wanna One sneak in back-to-back trophies? Will SNSD lift up their downloads game to show their seniority? Or will the debutant’s luck continue next week? Let us know your thoughts below!
