OH! Chart Week #5 Results

Records continued to fall in week 5 of the OH! Chart. From global superstar Ed Sheeran popping up to a new-look top three, the stakes have never been higher.

How the OH! Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (55%), Hanteo Physical Sales (25%), and OH User Voting (20%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart.

Results:

JYP Entertainment’s most active girl group TWICE capped off a stunning debut on the OH! Chart by recording the highest ever score with “Signal” on 31.05 points. Cult favourite UNNIES came in second place on 9.47 points, while international star PSY claimed the last spot on the podium on 8.91 points.

In the physicals category, TWICE’s market power proved too strong for the rest of the field, as their fourth mini album sold 102,444 copies. The next best performer was VIXX’s “Shangri-La” on 40,647. Veteran group Sechskies, who were back-to-back winners over the last fortnight, sold 7,067 copies in third place.

TWICE was virtually unstoppable in the downloads, where they notched 232,603 points ahead of UNNIES’ “Right?” (177,955 points) and PSY’s “I LUV IT” (168,603). However, only about 120,000 points seperated streaming leaders UNNIES and PSY, who each recorded 7,762,813 and 7,688,724 respectively. PSY’s “New Face” came third in streaming hits with 6,848,864, which knocked out TWICE from the top three.

TWICE topped the OH category with 92 votes as they wrapped up an earth-shaking win. Consistent performers IU came second with 50 points, which marked their only top three finish in any category. WINNER, who missed out on the podium by a big margain, had something to cheer about by placing third on 26 votes.

No.1 Spotlight: Twice

Previous ranking: Not applicable

TWICE were runaway winners this week in a record-breaking victory. Their latest track, “Signal” is yet another cheerful and dangerously addictive pop number. There’s a bit more edge with more rap but the chorus shows off TWICE’s signature selling point – a tune that never gets out of your mind. Judging by the high quality of the track and the massive numbers across every category, TWICE should be a force to be reckoned with in the next few OH! Charts.

The burning question is whether TWICE can repeat history like its previous successor Sechskies and record another win? Can other nominees step up and close the gap? Or will boy groups IKON and Seventeen spoil the party? Let us know your thoughts below!
