OH! Chart Results 180410 – Podium shakes up

Frequent podium placers formed a heated competition this week. With several new hip-hop acts and the return of boy groups, the results were tighter than ever before.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Digital Score (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

*Disclaimer – Hanteo results have been affected by a computer error made by some branches of its affiliated store, Bandie & Loonis. Sales volume data from March 3 to March 25 were not synchronised. The store has corrected its sales quantities on March 28.*

Results:

Double second-place getter BIGBANG made a breakthrough win on the OH!Chart for their latest hit, “Flower Road” on 13.11 points. Former winner Mamamoo jumped one spot with “Starry Night” on 12.65 points. Last week’s winner Wanna One rounded out the podium spots with “Boomerang” on 9.99 points.

Wanna One was unrivalled in taking the win in the physicals category, after selling 200,893 copies. Popular boy group Monsta X returned to the OH!Chart with a second place finish on 61,623 copies. K-pop legends TVXQ came third in their debut week with 49,816 copies.

BIGBANG’s first win for “Flower Road” was consolidated with a big win in the digitals category, recording 55,072,844 hits. Mamamoo came second on 50,580,026 hits. Rookie girl group Momoland wrapped up the top three with 37,089,120 hits.

Mamamoo clinched the OH! category on 35 votes, just ahead of NCT on 34 votes. BIGBANG finished in third spot with 32 votes. Meanwhile, fresh boy group Stray Kids came closely behind on 30 votes.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: BIGBANG

Previous ranking: Second

One of K-pop’s most recognised boy groups BIGBANG’s latest release, “Flower Road” marks the boys’ last song for a while as all its members except for maknae Seungri are serving in the military. This track is a medium-tempo, sweet yet full of swag. From the simple guitar instrumental, impactful rap and emotional lyrics – there is a lot to like. BIGBANG usually pumps out effortlessly addictive songs and this is no exception. It is no wonder it continues to slay digital charts with minimal promotion and even in the absence of a music video.

Can BIGBANG continue its winning run? Will hip-hop artists record bigger numbers? Or will another rookie idol group rise up the ranks? Let us know your thoughts below!
