OH!Chart Results 180220 – New winner on OH!Chart’s return

in Korean Entertainment, OH! Chart

The return of the OH!Chart in 2018 on the back of last week’s awards event resulted in idol groups dominating the field. Fresh faces were left chasing for points.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Digital Score (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Hip-hop group iKON flew to the finish line to win their first OH!Chart crown with “Love Scenario” on 18.44 points. Fellow boy group Seventeen clinched second prize for “Thanks” on 14.91 points. Popular girl group Red Velvet rounded out the podium spots with “Bad Boy” on 11.04 points.

Seventeen stormed to first place in the physicals category after selling a mammoth 131,635 copies. The late SHINee member Jonghyun took out second spot with 15,104 copies. SM juniors Red Velvet finished third on 6735 copies.

iKON’s win was consolidated with a dominant win in the digital scores; notching 62,934,023 hits. Red Velvet took out second place on 45,677,172 hits. Soloist Jang Deok Cheol finished in third spot for his new single, “Good Old Days” on 43,521,223 hits.

This week’s winners iKON were invinsible in the OH! category after gathering 68 votes. Seventeen and Jonghyun were tied in second spot with 30 votes – less than half of iKON’s tally. Red Velvet took out third spot with 28 votes.

Previous ranking: Not applicable

YG Entertainment’s talented boy group iKON’s latest track “Love Scenario” is a sweet and sincere number. Released a couple weeks before Valentine’s Day, the song carries a catchy yet simple tune that perfectly fits in with chilled rap parts and tender vocals. The music video features a young love theme where there is a mixture of ups and downs, flowers and brooding glares. Overall, it is yet another flawless release from iKON that is highly likeable and marketable.

Can iKON pull off back-to-back wins? Will former winners repeat history? Or will we see rookies take the OH!Chart stage? Let us know your thoughts below!
