OH!Chart Results: Fresh face finishes first

Three debutants pushed their way up the OH!Chart pecking order over established regulars. The pressure was on to claim a spot on the podium this week.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Resurgent boy group unit NU’EST W stormed to the finish line with 20.52 points to win their first OH! Chart trophy for their comeback track, “Where You At”. Two-time winners BTS could not claim a triple crown for “DNA” and were relegated to second place on 14.71 points. Popular duo Bolbbalgan4’s “Some” dropped one place into third spot with 10.82 points.

NU’EST consolidated their win by selling a stunning 179,783 copies in the physicals category. Trendy boy group GOT7 returned to OH!Chart proceedings with a second placing on 146,495 copies. Cult soloist IU rounded out the top three with 15,673 copies.

For the downloads, NU’EST also dominated proceedings by recording 136,982 hits. Digital queens Bolbbalgan4’s “Some” came second on 112,257 hits. Veteran soloist Yoon Jong Shin clinched third place with 103,585 hits for Trace. Meanwhile, Bolbbalgan4 won the streaming category with an unrivalled 7,806,296 hits. Yoon Jong Shin again came up with the goods to finish second on 5,779,718 hits. Bolbbalgan4’s second nominated track, “To My Youth” came third on 5,606,151 hits.

Successful boy group BTS easily won the OH! category by posting 63 votes. NU’EST W garnered 37 votes in second place. GOT7 ensured it was an all-boy-group show by finishing third.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: NU’EST W

Previous ranking: Not applicable

NU’EST W has made their comeback with the sophisticated “Where You At”. This track captures a classy, dark and refined feel – one that NU’EST has traditionally gone for and has been successful in. The boys’ vocals are smooth and chilled, other than Baekho’s usual high notes. The rap is also quite impactful. Meanwhile, the choreography is very slick, as expected from the experienced boy group. Overall, “Where You At” is one of those solid jams that barely has any faults.

Can NU’EST W continue their rise back up the K-pop tree? Will BTOB make a case for podium spots in their debut next week? Or will another debutant pull a surprise? Let us know your thoughts below!
