OH!Chart Results – Girl group takes charge

A girl group made a victorious return to the OH!Chart proceedings. Leading idol groups and ballad singers competed for bragging rights this week.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Leading girl group Red Velvet clinched first place for their comeback track, “Peek-A-Boo” on 18.34 points. Last week’s runaway winners, Wanna One’s “Beautiful” dropped to second spot with 14.24 points. Fellow popular idol group TWICE rounded up the podium with 13.26 points for “Lucky”.

Red Velvet’s buying power brought them across the line in the physicals category with 52,697 copies. Wanna One took out second after they sold 47,644 copies. K-pop veterans Super Junior fell one spot to third place with 11,743 copies.

This week’s winners, Red Velvet dictated the downloads category by recording 145,930 hits in first place. The ladies were closely followed by Yoon Jong Shin and Min Seo’s “Yes” on 136,385 hits. Wanna One continued their consistent results in snagging third spot on 95,974 hits. In the streaming, Yoon Jong Shin and Min Seo stormed to victory with 8,389,316 hits. Ballad duo Melomance came second on 6,702,579 hits for their smash hit, “Gift”. Famed co-ed act Urban Zakapa clinched third spot for “When We Were Two” on 5,688,765 hits.

TWICE won the OH! category after getting rewarded with 32 votes. Red Velvet finished second on 11 votes, while Super Junior snuck into third spot with 9 votes.

NO.1 SPOTLIGHT: RED VELVET

Previous ranking: Not applicable

SM Entertainment’s most active girl group Red Velvet has returned to the K-pop scene after a short break. “Peek-A-Boo” is a quriky and edgy number that features a strong, fast-paced EDM sound. The vocals are sultry and smooth while the choreography has many statement moves which are easy for fans to follow. The MV is very American-college esque; which the girls easily pulled off. Overall, it is another catchy and loveable number that should continue to slay the charts.

Can Red Velvet go back-to-back? Will Wanna One push for another win? Or will another star rise to the occasion? Let us know your thoughts below!
