OH!Chart Results: Male artists dominate

in Korean Entertainment, OH! Chart

From male groups to soloists, the OH! Chart was controlled by the key players of the K-pop scene. With just three nominees recording over 10 points in their overall results, it was a very entertaining ride the finish line.

How the OH!Chart system works:

The chart is divided into three different categories: Gaon Streaming and Downloads (60%), Hanteo Physical Sales (15%), and OH User Voting (25%). OH users are allowed to vote and have a say in the overall chart ranks of certain songs each week. OH users can vote for more than one nominee but cannot vote for the same nominee more than once. Every week, data from the three categories will be gathered and weighted accordingly. The artists with the 10 highest scores will make it onto the chart. If an artist wins a triple crown, their results will not be recorded in future charts.

Results:

Popular boy group BTOB made a successful return to the OH!Chart with a strong win for “Missing You” on 18.55 points. Last week’s winners, NU’EST W’s “Where You At” slipped one spot to second place with 13.08 points. K-pop veterans Highlight claimed third place for their comeback track, “Can Be Better” on 10.41 points.

BTOB came first in the physicals category by selling 61,493 copies. SHINee’s maknae Taemin finished second with 57,945 copies. Highlight proved they still had selling power after they clinched third spot on 54,562 copies.

In the downloads category, this week’s winners BTOB were unrivalled on 201,162 hits. Ballad duo MeloMance took second place for “Gift” with 130,449 hits. K-pop legends Sechskies claimed third spot for “Something Special” on 127,637 hits. Digital powerhouse Bolbbalgan4 won the streaming category for the second week in a row for “Some” with 6,897,005 hits. MeloMance came second on 6,168,369 hits. Veteran soloist Yoon Jong Shin finished third for “Like It” on 5,859,220 hits.

Senior boy group BTOB has come back with a bright and meaningful ballad – a genre they have recorded plenty of success in the past. “Missing You” features a soft piano tune alongside an uplifting mood. The combination of sincere vocals and chilled rap fit perfectly together. This track is ideal for a lazy and lonely afternoon. It is very listner-friendly so it is likely to continue to garner love from K-pop fans.

Will BTOB go back-to-back? Can a debutant shake up the front-runners? Or will male artists continue to cominate? Let us know your thoughts below!
