PRESS PLAY! | Upbeat Summertime K-Pop Playlist

It’s finally time to take out your bikinis from the treasure chests and jump into the vast blue ocean! If my research doesn’t fail me, it’s officially summer in Korea. Of course, it’s the time to have fun with your friends, take a break from the hardships, and enjoy the sun, but it’s definitely way better with some upbeat bops to jam along to.

Let us press the play button with this special summertime playlist!

Sistar – Touch My Body

As many K-Pop fans say, summer is indeed incomplete without the chart-topping tracks from Starship’s former four-membered group, Sistar. Sistar offers a wide array of summer-themed songs, and putting each and every one of them would complete this list already. However, what’s most iconic in their summer discography is the 2014 bop that had the whole K-Pop fandom dancing along. “Touch My Body” is a sexy yet funky track to open up our list.

AOA – Heart Attack

Proving competition with Sistar in the summer season of 2015, the seven girls of AOA delivered an equally addictive song. “Heart Attack” topped many music charts as well as racked up several awards. It can be said that the beautiful girls of AOA reached their peak during this era. As sporty girls playing lacrosse, they surely can give you a heart attack.

DAY6 – I’m Serious

Straying from their usual rock-ballad type of music, DAY6 proved their musical versatility through a groovy summer song, “I’m Serious”. The song is part of the band’s EveryDAY6 year long project where they did comeback after comeback for 12 months. DAY6 completed the summer vibe with a music video shot along the beach depicting an image of fun and carefree youth.

Red Velvet – Red Flavor

Creating a nationwide craze last year, Red Velvet truly owned 2017’s summer time. Getting millions of downloads, millions of streams, and millions of views, “Red Flavor” is a definition of a “hit”. Curious about the red flavor? Watch the music video below!

Girls’ Generation – Party

One of the most popular groups of all time, Girls’ Generation, surely won’t miss the summer party! “Party” came out last 2015 as a pre-release of their much awaited full album “Lion Heart”. There can’t be any other song to describe the excitement of having a fun summer get-together with your friends.

Girl’s Day – Darling

Like Girls’ Generation, Girl’s Day won’t miss out summer. With a very catchy chorus and addictive sound, they surely enticed the whole Korean public with “Darling”. Not only is the song well-known, but the choreography has been made an iconic dance craze as well.

SHINee – View

Geez, I almost forgot to add this. Silly me. But what you won’t forget is how SHINee captivates you with a summer “View” you’ll surely remember.

APink – Remember

APink is a group known for their catchy songs that exude cutesy charms. However, they approached things differently with “Remember,” involving elements that are more mature and sentimental. It is a song you ought to really remember, during summertime.

f(x) – Hot Summer

Summer is the time when the sun shines most brightly, but f(x) will make your summer hotter. Sporting their usual electro funky sound, f(x) takes you into a entirely different summer experience with “Hot Summer”.

INFINITE – She’s Back

Concluding this summer playlist is one of my most favorite summer songs. “She’s Back” is a song from INFINITE’s debut year and is promoted along with their debut song. The music video features the seven young boys having fun by the swimming pool. The mixture of a catchy melody and amazing vocals as well as INFINITE-level choreography will make your summer extra unforgettable.

Summer won’t be complete without the upbeat tracks to sing along to. So before you drink your fresh fruit drinks, swim into the deep blue ocean, or throw a party with friends, make sure to play these summer bops and turn the volume to the maximum.
