The global girl group comeback battle begins in its earnest.
Mnet’s ‘Queendom 2’ revealed late last month the six representative K-pop girl groups that will compete for a comeback at the same time on the same day through an official press release on the 21st of February.
The first girl group (in alphabetical order) is the ‘Brave Girls’, which quickly emerged as a trending girl group with the song ‘Rollin’ last year. With the hidden abilities and charms of Brave Girls that they have never shown before, they plan to show the possibility beyond.
The veteran rookie girl group ‘VIVIZ’, who announced a successful new start as a three-member member of the national girl group ‘GFRIEND’, was also named in the lineup. As they cast their vote for ‘Queendom 2’ with the determination to properly imprint the name of ‘VIVIZ’ with the public, it is exciting to see what new image they will show.
Another girl group in the lineup is ‘WJSN’, a group who has a number of hit songs that captivate the ears of K-pop fans, such as the songs ‘Butterfly’, ‘As You Wish,’ and ‘SAVE ME, SAVE YOU’. Expectations are being raised for this performance as they have shown various charms not only in music but also in entertainment and acting, regardless of the genre.
The talented girl group ‘LOONA’, recognized first by global K-pop fans, will also appear. Since they are a girl group with the modifier of ‘global emerging trend’ by showing perfect performances beyond the limits of the musical genre in each album, curiosity is growing as to what kind of standard choreography they will capture in the hearts of music fans this time.
The fifth girl group to appear in the lineup is the super rookie ‘Kep1er’, who sold over 200,000 albums and ranked first in Initial Chodong sales for a girl group’s debut album. Global fans are expected to watch with interest to see if Kep1er, who has been drawing attention for his ‘monster rookie’ as they took the top spot on music shows at the same time as their debut in the music industry, will be able to properly show their rookie spirit.
The last participant in the lineup is HYOLYN, a former member of the girl group SISTAR, who has excellent vocals with attractive tones and dance skills that exude unrivaled charisma on stage. She is the only solo participant. She boasts an overwhelming presence as an all-rounder solo capable of all positions from vocal, rap, and performance, so attention is focused on whether there will be an opportunity to solidify her position as ‘artist HYOLYN’.
The production team said, “All six artists are representative K-Pop artists with a history of winning first place on music programs.”
Meanwhile, ‘Queendom’, which was first aired in 2019, is a comeback survival program in which six K-pop top idol teams compete and release singles at one hour a day. At that time, K-pop girl groups’ splendid performances every time created a lot of topics and created a big direction in the music industry.
‘Queendom 2’ is scheduled to premiere on March 31st at 9:20 PM. Taeyeon will be the MC.
