Kep1er has finally made their debut with ‘FIRST IMPACT’ after inevitable delays! Kep1er is a 9 member K-pop project girl group formed through the Mnet survival show Girls Planet 999. FIRST IMPACT is Kep1er’s first mini album and includes remakes of themed tracks from Girls Planet 999. Without further ado, let’s get into this review.
Track Review:
Track 1 – See The Light
The only thing I dislike about this track is that it’s so short; I wish they could’ve added one more verse and chorus! The song starts off really dreamy then jumps into a very up-beat track. See The Light is definitely a great intro to Kep1er’s sound throughout the mini album.
Track 2 – WA DA DA
I’ll be honest, on first listen I found WA DA DA to be quite generically produced and in some ways it is! However, after listening to it for a week straight it has grown on me, minus the oh~ parts. What I found pretty cool throughout the track is the use of space themed notes, it ties back to girls planet as well as Kep1er background.
Now for the music video, I think line distribution aside, I feel like screen-time could’ve been well sorted. We had members that didn’t get a up front appearance until the 2 minute mark of the music video, felt like I saw the same 2-3 members being shown on screen. What I loved about the music video was the different transitions show throughout, thought it was pretty unique.
Track 3 – MVSK
MVSK is what WA DA DA should’ve been in terms of music production and better line distribution. One thing I can describe MVSK as is a chic-vogue track. MVSK starts off with a groovy deep base that later changes into a deep house synth pop track in the chorus and the latter of the song. What I love about the chorus is the certain parts where the songs pauses frequently and you can hear the members acapella in the background. I feel like everyone showcased their vocals really well in this track.
The mini album is available worldwide on streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music as well as for purchase on iTunes/Google Play. Let me know what you think of Kep1er’s debut mini album down in the comment section below.
