Track Review:
Track 1: Let Me (Title)
The title track for this album is a song titled “Let Me”, and as the name suggests, the lyrics are about asking your special someone to believe in you and to let you show your love to her/him, which is a typical concept for both rookie and non-rookie groups. As per usual, the title song is a pop track that utilizes Golden Child’s freshness and charms. Similar to their other song “Crush”, “Let Me” has recognizable elements of arena rock, however it’s not as prominent like the former. The song is undoubtedly fun and is considerably one of the group’s fastest songs, naturally inciting excitement that will surely progress as one listens to it.
The verses were somehow lowkey, but kept a steady dynamic. The chorus boasted a rock-esque sound with a more upbeat tune accompanied by the addictive hook: “맡겨봐 let me let me let me let me”. The bridge on another hand was a breath of fresh air and was a great contrast to the song’s general sound.
I must take the time to recognize the improvement of their vocals. The improvement is obvious, but as I observed it also seems to be a matter of them gaining more confidence in their singing. The main vocalist did amazing as per usual, but who truly shined in the song is a lead vocal that goes by the name of Jibeom, In their past comebacks, Jibeom had the lowest amount of lines, but now this song lets him showcase his talent in singing. In an interview, Daeyeol actually mentioned that Jibeom would be the “center” of this album, and I can totally see the reason behind that. Generally, every member proved to be great singers and rappers.
Track 2: If
“If” is a song that doesn’t lose to the title track in terms of everything. They are on equal grounds when it comes to song quality, addictiveness, vocals, and more. What I mean is that “If” could also prove to be an amazing title track for the album.
The song is a pop track with a funky and catchy sound that will truly catch your attention. As you listen to the song, you may even find yourself dancing along to the music. It keeps an upbeat tune with Golden Child’s signature liveliness and sound.
Track 3: Thank You
Thank you, really, thank you Golden Child for delivering such an amazing song. Honestly speaking, “Thank You” is one of the best ballad tracks that I have ever listened to in K-pop. Nothing much can be said about this beautiful song, except that it is a track that can definitely melt your heart. Their voices are all like honey to the ears and their harmonic approach in the chorus is just… ethereal. If you ask me, this is among Golden Child’s best songs; truly a job well done. (PS: The song’s killing points, the intro and outro, can truly send oneself to heaven.)
