We’re entering the Spring 2019 anime simulcast season, so it’s about time we talk about the interesting series that have already started or are coming up soon. With the Winter simulcast usually being slow, expect to see a great amount of action packed and interesting series to appear this Spring. Series like One Punch Man and Attack on Titan will be returning with new seasons! Without further ado, here’s my watchlist for the Spring 2019 anime simulcast season.
Carole & Tuesday
It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen an anime centered around music, with Sound Euphonium being the latest, so I’m looking forward to this. Just the teaser has me hooked on the series. The character design looks amazing and the plot is intriguing. The story is set 50 years after mankind began migrating to the new frontier, Mars. It’s the age where everything is ran by AI and everyone is content with being passive as consumers. The anime follows two female lead characters, Carole and Tuesday, who are in completely different walks of life. Carole and Tuesday are brought together by chance from their love to sing and making music. Air Date: April 10, 2019.
Attack on Titan 3 Part 2
Attack on Titan is finally back with the second part of season three. The ending of the first part gave a little snippet and cliffhanger of Mikasa attacking Levi. There is peace again within the Walls, and the Survey Corps prepare for a new expedition to Shiganshina. Thanks to Hange’s new weapon, the hopes to retake the lost territory, once and for all, is stronger than ever. But at their old home, known enemies await and a fierce battle is coming. The second part of season three is only 10 episodes so it will air later than usual. Air Date: April 29, 2019.
Demon Slayer
I was drawn to this series due its use of the Japanese art style Ukiyo-e and stayed for the plot. This series gives me a mix of Blue Exorcist and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress vibes, so I’m excited to see where this goes. The setting is Taisho era Japan. Tanjirou is a kindhearted young boy who lived peacefully with his family as a coal seller. Their normal life changes completely when his family is slaughtered by demons. The only other survivor, Tanjirou’s younger sister Nezuko, has become a ferocious demon. In order to return Nezuko to it’s normal state and get revenge on the demon that killed their family, the two of them depart on a journey. Air Date: Apr 6, 2019.
Fairy Gone
I love anything that P.A. WORKS does. They do a really great job when it comes to original content! It’s been a while since I’ve watched an action anime by them, probably since Kuromukuro, so I’m definitely looking forward to this. A world where fairies possess and reside within animals, granting them special powers. Humans can partially summon the fairy and use it as a weapon, by surgically removing and transplanting the organs of the possessed animal into a human. The story begins nine years after the end of the war and centers on the protagonist Maria. Maria is a fresh recruit of “Dorothea,” an organization dedicated to the investigation and suppression of fairy-related crimes and incidents. Air Date: April 8, 2019.
I hope you found my watchlist interesting. You can find out more anime coming up this simulcast season by going to Anichart.
