“Super Duper” is a lit dance track co-composed by leader Leeteuk, who also participated in writing the lyrics. This song is also a pre-release track for Super Junior‘s upcoming repackage album, ”Replay”, which will be out on the 12th of April.
This song comes as a pleasant surprise for me but I really like it a lot. In fact, I love it. If you like it, you will like it, and if you don’t, you won’t. I was surprised that this song grew on me a lot, even though I usually prefer songs that are much ”softer” — for example, ballads. On the other hand, it might be because I am biased as a fan. Whatever Super Junior releases, I will take an immediate liking to it — which is, fortunately, the case here. Team One Sound, who has been writing songs for Super Junior as well for their sub-unit Super Junior D&E, took charge of producing this song. Previous notable releases are Super Junior D&E’s ”Growing Pains”, ”Don’t Wake Me Up” in 2015, and Super Junior ”Shirt” in 2014.
“Super Duper” is a super cool, party-like song and the members did their best to rap coherently and flawlessly in the song (p/s Super Junior, Duper leader Leeteuk actually did a great job with his rap — maybe he should consider it his third hobby, after MCing and singing!). They occasionally say ”I’M A SUPER DUPER” which is super catchy and it makes you want to put your hands up and dance along. It does make my brain fuzzy, in a good way, and you will be left craving for more. This song sounds like a typical Super Junior D&E song. Their Japanese track, Circus, has a similar but not entirely the same vibe. Therefore, it was rather interesting to hear other members, instead of just two, sing in such track.
This song has proven to be rather a success, with many fans taking a liking to this song. ”Super Junior” and ”Super Duper” have been on MelOn search engines, sweeping up the 3rd and 7th spots respectively. Also, it has been awhile since the members have sung on such track. In 2012, ”Rockstar” was a popular hit among fans as the members would provide fan service for their fans while performing this song, including stripping off their shirts, to the delight of female and perhaps male fans as well.
Please anticipate Super Junior’s repackage album ”Replay” and do replay this song super duper lots of times!
