Lee Sunmi is back with her new summer song, Heart Burn. It’s just what the summer needed.
The music is very laid-back, easy to relax to, but also something you can dance to and sway with. It’s a bass-driven track. It leads with a guitar melody with some soft drums. It also features some bell-accented sounds and synthesizers.
The lyrics are simple but nicely convey the feeling of being enamoured with someone on a hot summer day. It questions if the temperature is rising because of the heat outside, or because of the love fever.
Sunmi’s voice is soothing and seductive throughout the entirety of the song. Her vocals manage to be both vulnerable and hypnotic.
The video shows Sunmi falling in love over various periods of time, only to be the cause of the end for her lovers. It’s a mix of fun and dark themes.
Overall, the song is like a cool breath of fresh air released in the hot summer. The video is a little too dark for a complete fun summer vibe, though. It’s Sunmi’s style.
