Summer, as they say, has always belonged to girl groups, and it looks like it’s going to stay that way for a good long while with TWICE around. Seventeen came real close, for sure. Carats were leading in votes, but ultimately, the Chart straight up wanted more of TWICE ‘More and More. Not that any of the girl group enthusiasts in Seventeen would have much of an issue with that. But it’s not all girl groups in June. How did everyone do? We’ve even got a sleeper hit in BLOO with his 2017 song ‘Downtown Baby’. Let’s find out real quick.

Digital Chart
IU strikes again. ‘Eight‘ tops the digital chart so effortlessly, scoring 147,391,399 points on Gaon, it’s actually fascinating. Somewhere out there, her antis are seething. At #2, Jo Jung Suk and his song from Hospital Playlist, ‘Aloha‘, scores a solid 134,098,891 points. And then we have your K-pop girl group summer representative TWICE at #3 on Gaon with 117,935,068 points.
Physical Chart
South Korea’s physical chart was actually relatively diverse this time around. Yes, Seventeen dominated everyone else with their very first million-selling album Heng:garæ (1,235,853 units) and their lead title ‘Left and Right‘. But we also have TWICE (563,580 units) and IZ*ONE (537,820 units) in the top three, giving the boys a run for their money.
Votes
It’s yet another close race when it comes to votes. Seventeen led the poll (and physical chart) with 14 votes, but they needed meatier numbers to blow any other competition out of the water with our algorithm. Fans of the songs released by IU and TWICE made absolutely sure they didn’t as ‘Eight’ and ‘More and More’ garnered 13 and 11 votes each out of 78 votes in total.
Final Ranking
Seventeen (12.90) definitely impressed with their physical sales, OH! Chart’s algorithm tends to favour all-rounders. Not only does TWICE boast scores in both digital and physical charts, but they also received just enough votes out of the existing number to secure their spot at #1 with ‘More and More‘ (13.53). Of course, lest we forget the infinity-hit-wonder IU at #3 with 11.88 points. It’s such a close one this month. A matter of a couple of votes could have changed everything for the top three!
OH! Chart: A Quick Recap of What All of That Means
OH! Chart is a monthly music charting system that is unique to the OneHallyu community and OH! Press readers. It tracks top 10 songs on Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and the top five best-selling albums on Gaon Monthly Album Chart. Thus, only data from exceptional performers will be collected for both categories. We will then aggregate the data and rank the songs based on three voting categories: Streaming and Downloads (55% of votes), Physical Sales (20%) and OH! Press Reader Votes (25%). After each full month, OH! Chart will be updated to reflect the best-selling and most-loved songs.
How the Results are Calculated
The top 10 songs from Gaon Monthly Digital Chart and title songs of the top five albums from Gaon Monthly Album Chart are selected. Only data for exceptional performers from these two charts will be counted towards their scores. Those who perform exceptionally across the board will have the advantage of scoring in all of them. For the final scores, each song’s individual data for one category is divided by the sum of that category, then multiplied by our chosen percentage (i.e. 0.20 for physical sales). The grand totals from all three categories are added together and multiplied by 100, forming the final score.
OH! CHART #1: TWICE ‘More and More’
Not all of OH! Chart’s #1 songs have had top scores in all three categories — TWICE ‘More and More’ joins that exclusive and ever-so-elusive club in this update. Well, Momo looks jaw-droppingly stunning this comeback, so it’s what she deserves.
