A question that still remains unanswered: when is EXO’s comeback?

For any fan, an announcement for a comeback date or schedule of your favorite group is one of the most exhilarating things to see. It’s impossible to contain the thrill and anticipation knowing that your eyes, ears, and spirit will be invigorated by new head-bopping songs.

In the last nine months, the K-pop scene has witnessed numerous music releases that enthralled many people around the world. It took the Hallyu wave into greater heights with chart-topping hits from groups like iKON, Twice, BLACKPINK, Momoland, and BTS which have gotten countless fans singing their hearts out and grooving to every beat.

However, one powerhouse group seem to be missing on the comeback calendar—EXO. In the last five years, they had consistently put out an album which is why for most EXO-Ls, the comeback drought this year seems strange knowing they are one of S.M Entertainment’s biggest acts. Although, yes, each member is getting the opportunity to work on their solo endeavors, overseas promotions or the sub-unit (EXO-CBX), they even performed on the 2018 Winter Olympics closing ceremony. Still, the desire for a full group comeback by EXO-Ls is dying to be quenched. Going around on Twitter, you’ll see hilarious tweets that will surely make you tap the heart icon instantly.

the reality show baekhyun mentioned is just going to be a recording of EXO every day trying not to pop a vessel after SM tells them their comeback is being postponed for 5 months straight also it's going to air on oksusu

EXOLS: Twitter is so boring. There's still no exo comeback I should go back later

Baekhyun: *suddenly tweeted many times straight*

No one can deny this whole arid situation is driving EXO-Ls crazy as the day goes by. Recently, EXO-Ls showed the fandom’s power again after managing to trend the hashtag FENTYxKAI on Twitter. The simple tweet became massive and even made the famous makeup brand personally slide on Kai’s DM. It looks like EXO-Ls are just waiting for the comeback announcement, and they’re all set to rock it down.

Even some of the members seem to be aware of EXO-Ls frustration, but they’re asking the fandom to be more patient and wait (with constant teasing on the side). So far, there are only a few details signaling their return is lying around the corner. Fans have noticed the boys going through hair color and style changes which, most of the time, is a reliable indicator of a comeback.

sm: exo will comeback soon
exo-ls: LIAR! WHEN THE HELL IS EXO COMEBACK?! WE NEED IT RN!!

exo: please wait a little longer…
exo-ls: ᵒᵏᵃʸ ʷᵉ ʷᶦˡˡ ʷᵃᶦᵗ ?

korean exo-ls are using this hashtag #안엑컴_365일_같이듣자_365 which means “ no exo comeback 365th day, let’s listen together 365” and streaming 3.6.5 LMAO such a mood kdhdjdjd pic.twitter.com/tOEXg3maP0

Looking at the broader side of the spectrum, seeing the members getting solo activities is a good sign for EXO as a group. Knowing the industry is overly competitive and saturated, an idol group will soon need to expand their horizons at some point in their careers. It’s astounding to see the boys branching out of their current ground, from music collaborations, fashion runways, movies, television shows, and musicals. EXO is really building their brand individually on a steady phase.

It will be interesting to see how things will roll out for EXO this year. No one likes to see the group they adore being poorly promoted after a long delay. Surely, EXO-Ls will keep a sharp eye on S.M’s management considering this may be the group’s last comeback before military enlistment begins. With only a few months left before 2018 ends, the fans are praying that S.M will finally publish the official details about the release of their long-awaited album. Whatever S.M has in store for all the EXO-Ls out there, it should be a memorable and remarkable comeback for the beloved boy group. Let’s all hope for the best, and perhaps, stay tuned for comeback spoilers on Sehun’s Instagram.
